Relying on our membership
The Nanaimo Astronomy Society is a registered non-profit society dedicated to teaching people about astronomy.
We fund our outreach, events, learning and web resources, and other programs through our memberships and fundraising.
Member benefits
- Free attendance to our monthly meetings held nine times a year, featuring world-class speakers in astrophysics, cosmology, and astrobiology drawn from the largest concentration of astronomy-related talent in Canada at the National Research Council Herzberg Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Centre, and the University of Victoria. Society members and others also present on a variety of topics, including observing, space exploration, astronomy history and tourism.
- Borrow a telescope from the Society loaner scopes, including a Hydrogen-Alpha Solar telescope for looking safely at the sun.
- A voice and vote in how the Society is run and what we focus on.
Membership Options
Memberships run from October to the following September,
and are pro-rated by 50% if you join on/after April 1st.
An individual membership is now $15.00 (pro-rated)
A family (more than one immediate family member) membership is now $22.50 (pro-rated)
Post-High school Student Membership is now $2.50 pro-rated (High school students are free).
To become a member of the Nanaimo Astronomy Society you can pay online, or pay in person at a meeting by cheque, cash, or credit card.
We accept with E-transfers or secure credit card payments for online payments.
