The Nanaimo Astronomy Society has no paid staff. All of our programs are run by our fantastic volunteers!
Want to pitch in and help? Here are some ways you can volunteer. Have a skill or idea not listed here? Just contact us.
Public Observing Volunteers
The public observers group are the people who bring out their telescopes, binoculars and knowledge to our public observing sessions at Maffeo Sutton Park, Westwood Lake or other locations. This provides a fantastic opportunity for the public to see the moon, rings of Saturn or galaxies through a telescope. No telescope? No problem. We also need people to circulate and get people to signup for our email list at these events.
Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors are volunteers who help steer our society and make sure the work gets done. We’d love to have your input and energy to help us continue to grow.
Fundraisers
Are you excellent at researching or finding grants? Or are you comfortable with talking with the business community about sponsorships and door prizes? If either of these applies to you, we’d love to have you on our fundraising committee.
Show & Tell
Each meeting, one of our members shows a piece of telescope equipment or presents on topic for 15-20 minutes. If you have something interesting to share, let us know.
